Wi Tata, di dè n'in' Hemel

Almost everybody in Suriname is religious. Suriname has many Christians, Muslims and Hindu people amongst others. The Surinamese word for God is Gado. Many persons use this prayer in combination with the Hail Mary prayer.

Our Father Prayer - English Versions

Traditional version:

Our Father, Who art in heaven
Hallowed be Thy Name;
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

Newer version:

Our Father, Who is in heaven,
Holy is Your Name;
Your kingdom come,
Your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our sins,
as we forgive those who sin against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

Our Father Prayer - Dutch Version

Onze Vader, die in de hemel zijt,
Uw naam worde geheiligd,
Uw Koninkrijk kome,
Uw wil geschiede,
Amen.
